For me it happened that I found a website with some paints. I started to look around and fell in love with a yearling on the site. I was hesitant about buying a horse sight unseen except in pictures. I had requested a few pictures to get different views to see if she was really want I wanted. After much debating and discussion with my husband, I finally decided that I would buy the horse. After my interactions with Maureen, I had gained confidence that the horse I would be getting would be a horse I could work with.
Being from Ontario I had to wait to have my horse delivered to me. I waited with much anticipation, hoping and praying I would not be disappointed and had not made a terrible mistake. Who buys a horse over the internet?
I was VERY pleasantly surprised. I met the transport company that 4Feathers Ranch uses. They were great and had done a wonderful job to deliver my new baby without injury.
I was even more pleasantly surprised when the driver delivered my horse to me with a rope halter which he just hooked a finger in and walk her over to me. I then attached a lead and my new horse just walked onto my trailer like a pro. I have rarely seen a horse so young so easy to handle !
I have now had my mare for 1 year and she is 2 years old. I have started to work with her, with great success. She is very smart and very willing to work with you. I have had to do little to train her. I have saddled and bridled my horse with no issues. I am able to wash her with a hose and she has always been able to tie. I have had no issues with working with her feet. I have also found that I have been able to expose her to many new things with very little reaction. She is affectionate and loves attention. She is great with my now 4 year old who has been on her many times. My daughter loves to sit on her and then lay forward to give her a BIG hug and she doesn't mind any of it. She will also follow my daughter around looking for attention.
I am taking my time to back her, but I believe with all of the work I have done and what she has experienced that I will have absolutely no issues backing her and getting her started. I have had many compliments about my horse I would recommend 4Feathers Ranch to anyone looking for a paint. The horse I bought is FF Mucho Bueno, and I believe that this name suits her completely.
